architectural complex in the world; the Temple of Heaven where Ming and Qing emperors performed

   Transportation
Beijing Capital Airport has daily flights from many international destinations
in Europe, North America and Asia. The city is well served by excellent roads and can be reached by train from other parts of China.

At present there are two subway lines that service Beijing. They operate between 05:30 and 23:00
and are clean and safe. By 2008 a network of subway lines will be operational.
Public buses and trolley buses are both efficient and
economical but often very crowded. Rickshaw
rides offer an alternative way to experience the older parts of Beijing, and travel into hutongs (old neighbourhoods).
Taxis are readily available and reasonably priced. Drivers always use the meter, but do not generally speak English.
It is good idea to have your destination written in Chinese. Hotel staff and the LOC can help delegates with this.

   Weather
With its pleasant weather, autumn in Beijing (September & October) is considered the best visiting time.
But in late October you may feel a bit cold. The average is about 10¡æ(50¨È), with the high at around 13¡æ(55.4¨È) and low at around 7¡æ(44.6¨È).
Since the temperature is fluctuant in this season, you might encounter a sudden drop in temperature. So it is advisable to bring long-sleeved shirts
plus one or two sweaters and jackets with you.
